The Bendix+ Foundation Drum Brake (FDB) service chamber is a pneumatic actuator that converts compressed air into mechanical force to engage the drum brakes on heavy-duty commercial vehicles. It operates by moving a pushrod to actuate the slack adjuster. Unlike a spring brake chamber which is a combination unit for parking and emergency braking, a service chamber is dedicated strictly to normal braking operations when the driver presses the brake pedal.
