The Bendix+ PL-20 is a light-to-medium-duty manual slack adjuster designed to act as the mechanical link between the pneumatic air brake system and the s-cam foundation brake. Its core function is to convert the linear force of the brake chamber pushrod into torque that rotates the brake camshaft, while providing a manual means to adjust for brake lining wear. The light-to-medium torque rated slack adjusters use a Positive Lock -PL- mechanism consisting of a spring-loaded lock sleeve, which engages the adjusting screw nut preventing the adjusting screw (worm shaft) from rotating. The -20- in its name designates a maximum torque rating of 20,000 inch-pounds.
